Earlham Church of Christ
August 12, 2006
Despite the competition from the opening weekend of the Iowa State Fair, about 65 people came to Earlham Church of Christ to rock out with Casting Pearls, Remedy Drive, and opening band All But Screaming from Cedar Rapids.   Personally, I don't know why people would prefer to see livestock instead of these 3 immensely talented bands , but to each their own I guess!
Waiting for the fun to begin.
Sound check.
Scott and me.   My daughter wanted badly to take a picture with mom's new digital camera so we obliged her.   She also took most of the pictures you'll see on this page.   She's got the knack!
One of the event staff letting us know the doors would be opening in 3 minutes.   He had a lot of energy.   I liked that.
The Remedy Drive fans, front and center.   Nice people!
Event staff guy with Jennifer Wagoner from Q99.5 KZZQ.   She brought the Hummer and everything!
Jennifer's giving away free t-shirts.   Nope, I didn't get one.   I didn't win any of the raffles either. lol.
July's Battle of the Bands winner and opening act All But Screaming.   Great band.   Check them out at www.myspace.com/allbutscreaming
Remedy Drive takes the stage.
And now for the headliners....
"We are experiencing technical difficulties..." (Bryan's guitar cut out on him.   A member of Remedy Drive fixed it.   Good man.)
Case rockin' out!
Scott sitting hazily in the background.
We're on to "Love's Done Something" now...
...and Case obliges.   Now THAT'S low.   Don't fall asleep down there, Case. :)
...and it's time to get quiet and see how low we can go.   Bryan tells Case he needs to get real low...
Time to get loud again, but Bryan's staying low!
Me watching the show.   Not a view I see very often. lol...
The intro to "Wastin' Time" and the conservative Bible college roller skating party story.   Key word:   Sticks. lol....
Bryan getting his grin on.
Hazy Scott getting his "whoa-oh-oh-oh" on. :)
Time for the infamous CP dance contest...but these unsuspecting volunteers don't know that yet.
...then gives a demonstration of good dance contest technique.
Bryan explains the rules of the contest...
This contestant looked very nervous.
Case lends a helping hand with the microphone so the young man can introduce himself and something he likes about living in Iowa.   He was hard-pressed on the latter part. lol!
First contestant up (also one of the event staff) rocks out.   He played a mean air guitar!
Country music for our nervous contestant, who gets a helping do-si-do from a friend.
Bryan indicates the audience approval level of the dance.
Contestant #3, who has no idea what this "disco" is...
After a quick instructional from Bryan, she does her best Travolta and wins the contest!   Yay!
Back to rockin' out.   Actually, there was a really nice praise & worship section right after the dance contest, but I didn't take any pictures during that.
After the show....
